Certification and Continuing Education Units

Professional tutor certification applications may be made to the National Tutoring Association (NTA) after successful completion of assessments or training. Certification requires:
- Membership in the NTA
- Verification of practical tutoring hours
- References
- Criminal background check
NTA Certification Affiliate Benefits
If your commercial or school learning center is registered as a certification affiliate with the NTA they may submit your certification with the following benefits:
- Cost of professional certification and new membership reduced from
$80 to $35
- Documentation of practical tutoring hours and references may be provided
by the certification affiliate.
- If your organization maintains a criminal background check on file for you, a new one may not be required for certification.
Note: Modules/assessments must be obtained in sequence in order to qualify for each higher level (unless approved in advance by the NTA). Please visit the NTA web site for more information and applications forms.
Continuing Education Units Provided by Fielding Graduate University
Learners also qualify to receive continuing education units (CEUs) granted from Fielding Graduate University, Santa Barbara, California, two units for each training module, or six for the entire "Tutoring Foundations" curriculum. CEUs are valuable for teachers maintaining credentials or others seeking to improve their pay grade or satisfy education requirements. A $60 processing fee per application applies and a Bachelors degree or above is required. More information on CEUs is available at 800.340.1099, www.fielding.edu, or by email to: NLewin@fielding.edu.
